Southwest Airlines pilots are taking a historic vote on authorizing a strike after the holiday flight meltdown that grounded more than 16,000 planes

“A contract is needed now more than ever to address our failing operation, mitigate the fatigue that is affecting the safety of our operation," the president of the union said in a press release.
